Color Palette
Polymer clay tests
For the animation, I used a version of the "celebration " palette. I would say this palette is more saturated than what IKEA usually uses and this also emphasizes the utopic future I imagine in this design concept.
I made two prototypes, but I didn't use any of the prototypes because I felt it would take away cohesion from the design concept.
There are virtually infinite pigment options for the speculative polymer to have. If the polymer is recycled, this would also alter how the pigment heals after each "lifetime". After a lot of experiments, I decided it would distract from the already ambitious concept of universal building blocks, that is why my concept only has a reduced color palette.
My target group is eco-conscious people (hopefully a majority in the future). I see my target group as people that live their lives around sustainability. It would be someone that is reasonably handy, has an appeal for modern aesthetics, and is creative.

Position
My position remains the same as during the midterms. I am pro IKEA and pro-mass production.

I believe there are serious environmental concerns but they can be addressed. That's the purpose of my design concept.
